Piloting a project like Cap Sciences is not just about the internal business but the quality and independence of actions in the general public's interest.
Cap Sciences is an association under the French law of 1901, organized in the form of closed bodies. These are three principal members who debate, direct and vote on the associative projects.
Representatives of the State and all the local authorities (from the municipality to the regional council) form the college of institutional partners who support the action of Cap Sciences in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. This college has an advisory vote.
The college of scientific partners brings together representatives of the universities of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and regional public scientific research organizations. This college has a deliberative voice and appoints the members of the third college.
The college of individual partners, partially from the world of industry, also forms one of the three main areas of action of Cap Sciences within science and technology. This college has a deliberative voice.
The Cap Sciences Board of Directors chairman alternately comes from one of these two colleges.
A scientific and programming committee supplements these three colleges. Representatives of the scientific partners’ college and various actors from the Scientific, technical and industrial community, their mission is to reflect and forecast the main orientations for the Cap Sciences project.
Each project, exhibition, workshop, or digital campaign, is led by a dedicated project manager who chooses their team based on skills and the project’s orientation. Each team is interchangeable and varies from project to project, which is specific to Cap Sciences. Most other Science Centres maintain exclusive project functions. In contrast, Cap Sciences has a versatile approach to their project creations, which explains why we have only once used independent exhibition curators.
A scientific committee of experts is put in place for each project to guarantee the quality and rigor of the content produced and displayed.
